Is there ever a time that Remi Rebillard fails to go beyond pure aesthetic value, to appeal to our emotions and ultimately win? In his shoot Drifting Away, we’re met with the same tireless themes that touch us time and again: the crumbling world, the lonely landscape, the fragility of a woman’s beauty mirroring the fragility of nature’s around her. Model Alea is, like many of Rebillard’s subjects, at home in the world and yet disconnected from it; her unkempt hair and soulful eyes begging the question: “how can innocence and beauty survive in a world that is drifting away?”
